Faiz Ahmad Faiz.

I have always known that poets are the prophets. And who are prophets? Well the prophets are the forseer. Only they know the design of the civilization. Only they can comprehend what we are heading to. They have always tried to make us comprehend the world through the religion and language we understand. Since they are also the part of this process of ever evolving society , they often can't shun the imposed the Identity they are thrown into. Even we can't. That is very hard to keep oneself away from the feeling of culture, religion and language. Then what one will do? Well, he/she may take the simple path of spreading the concept of cosmology through the existing medium of his/ her own community . That doesn't make him/her the property of a particular language and religion. This is where the justification of poetry and even any forms of art can be explained.

The point is whether you understand the essentiality of art or not ; whether you feel and love poetry or not. You can be a Christian or Hindu or Muslim or Parsi or Dalit or Adivashi or anyone.You can be hindi speaker; you can be a bengali, you can be a French, Russian, English or whatever. These things don't matter. It has never been a matter of art. Art is limitless. Art is borderless ; art is not the property of religion ; it's even not the property of the poets.

Read poems in any language you comprehend.

Appreciate art in any form you can understand.

It will never dishearten you.

Moreover, it will give you many things you would have ever known.


This is very painful to know that we have come to an edge that the frustration of power has made us blind ; it has made us incompetent.

We must the world before we can accuse a poet laureate like Faiz Ahmad Faiz.


People are uselessly trying to create controversy about this man and his poem " Hum Dakhenge."

It is both funny and painful to know that a board will be created to investigate whether his poem is anti-hindu or not. And I feel I have no words to say more on that.

But the question is who will judge him ? Is he a poet or power? Well, we have the answer.

हम देखेंगे

लाज़िम है कि हम भी देखेंगे

वो दिन कि जिस का वादा है

जो लौह-ए-अज़ल में लिख्खा है

जब ज़ुल्म-ओ-सितम के कोह-ए-गिराँ

रूई की तरह उड़ जाएँगे

हम महकूमों के पाँव-तले

जब धरती धड़-धड़ धड़केगी

और अहल-ए-हकम के सर-ऊपर

जब बिजली कड़-कड़ कड़केगी

जब अर्ज़-ए-ख़ुदा के काबे से

सब बुत उठवाए जाएँगे

हम अहल-ए-सफ़ा मरदूद-ए-हरम

मसनद पे बिठाए जाएँगे

सब ताज उछाले जाएँगे

सब तख़्त गिराए जाएँगे

बस नाम रहेगा अल्लाह का

जो ग़ाएब भी है हाज़िर भी

जो मंज़र भी है नाज़िर भी

उट्ठेगा अनल-हक़ का नारा

जो मैं भी हूँ और तुम भी हो

और राज करेगी ख़ल्क़-ए-ख़ुदा

जो मैं भी हूँ और तुम भी हो"

Certainly we, too, shall see

that day that has been promised to us


When these high mountains

Of tyranny and oppression

turn to fluff and evaporate


And we oppressed

Beneath our feet will have

this earth shiver, shake and beat

And heads of rulers will be struck

With crackling lightening

and thunder roars.


When from this God’s earth’s (Kaa’ba)

All falseness (icons) will be removed

Then we of clean hearts-condemned by Zealots those keepers of

Faith,

We, will be invited to that altar to sit and Govern-

When crowns will be thrown off- and over turned will be thrones


We shall see

Certainly we, too, shall see

that day that has been promised to us


The God’s name will remain

Who is invisible and visible too

Who is the seer and is seen

There will rise one cheer- I am God!

Who I am too

and so are you


Then the masses, people of God will rule

Who I am too

and so are you


There will rise one cheer- I am God!

Who I am too

and so are you"


Lastly I will say


फ़ैज़ के लफ्ज़ को मिटाने वाले कल भी थे।

फ़ैज़ के लफ्ज़ को मिटाने वाले आज भी है।

फ़ैज़ को मिटाने वाले कल के वह लोग आज नहीं है।

फ़ैज़ को मिटाने वाले आज के यह लोग कल नहीं रहेंगे।

अल्फाज को कौन मिटा सकता है।

फ़ैज़ कल भी थे, आज भी है ,और कल भी रहेंगे।
